Fife Council, in partnership with Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, is carrying out improvement works at Lumphinnans Sports Hub, with the venue temporarily closing from Monday 25th May to Friday 4th July 2026 for the replacement of the existing 4G synthetic turf pitch.

The project will see the current surface, which is now more than 10 years old, replaced with a brand-new modern synthetic playing surface designed to enhance the overall customer experience and support future use of the facility ahead of a busy Summer of Sport across Fife.

The works are being carried out during the venue’s quieter off-peak period to help minimise disruption where possible. All current bookings and groups affected by the closure have been contacted directly and offered alternative arrangements where available.

During the closure period, the synthetic pitch area will be unavailable. Weekend access to changing rooms will remain available for grass pitch bookings where required, while part of the car park will also be temporarily closed to accommodate contractors, materials, and facilities during the project. Customers and groups affected by the closure have been offered alternative arrangements where possible, including access to facilities at nearby venues such as Bowhill Leisure Centre and Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre.

Paul Hossack, Area Leisure Manager at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We’re delighted to see this investment in Lumphinnans Sports Hub and the replacement of the existing 4G surface. The new pitch will provide an enhanced experience for customers and community groups while helping us attract even more players to the venue in the future.”

Colin Glencorse, Head of Operations at Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, added: “Investing in high-quality facilities remains a key priority for both Fife Sports and Leisure Trust and Fife Council. The upgraded surface is expected in time for a busy summer of sport, including the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026, helping to inspire even more people across the community to get involved in football and stay active.”

The works form part of Fife Council’s ongoing investment in sports facilities across the region and will help ensure clubs, schools, and community groups continue to have access to a high-quality facility for years to come.
