NHS Fife has launched a new seasonal campaign, Spring into the Right Care, to help people across Fife look after their health and access the right NHS service when it is required.

As the milder weather arrives, many people experience common health issues like coughs and colds, respiratory infections, stomach upsets, and flare‑ups of long‑term conditions like asthma or eczema. We are also likely to spend more time outdoors, which is one of the best things we can do for mental health and physical wellbeing.

The campaign provides clear advice to help people recognise symptoms, manage minor illnesses, and know where to turn for the most appropriate care. It also signposts to range of mental health and wellbeing support available year‑round.

The campaign also encourages people to get the right care, in the right place, at the right time, helping them get quicker support while ensuring NHS services remain available for those who need urgent or specialist treatment.

Most minor illnesses can be safely managed with self‑care advice or support from community pharmacies, where trained teams can offer expert guidance and treatment without an appointment through Pharmacy First Scotland.

For symptoms that are more serious or not improving, GP practices and NHS 24 are available to help. Accident and Emergency services should always be used for serious or life‑threatening conditions.

NHS Fife Director of Public Health Dr Joy Tomlinson said: “Spring brings a change in season, but it can also bring with it a range of common health issues.

“Spring is also a great time to think about the best ways to look after our health and to check where to go for advice and care, so that we can get the help we need, while still protecting urgent care services for those who need them most.”

Information and practical guidance are available through a dedicated section of the NHS Fife website, helping people make informed choices, avoid unnecessary waits, and support services during a busy period.

The campaign will run throughout spring, with seasonal health advice shared via NHS Fife’s website and social media channels.
