Volunteers from across Cowdenbeath and its surrounding areas came together on Thursday 11 December for a special evening of celebration at the Maxwell Centre, Cowdenbeath.

The event, organised by Community Learning and Development (CLD) staff, recognised the incredible contribution of volunteers who give their time and energy to support local communities in Kelty, Cowdenbeath, Crossgates, Benarty, Lochgelly, Lumphinnans and Cardenden.

Guests included volunteers and groups who work in partnership with Fife Council through Service Level Agreements and other local initiatives. These dedicated individuals and organisations play a vital role in tackling poverty, reducing social isolation, and supporting young people through youth clubs and activities.

Local councillors attended the event to show their appreciation, including Cllr Alex Campbell, Cowdenbeath Area Convenor, who said:“Our volunteers are the backbone of our communities. Their commitment and compassion make a real difference to people’s lives, whether it’s through food projects, youth work, or creating opportunities for social connection. Tonight is about saying thank you for everything they do.”

Special recognition was given to the young volunteers who actively contribute to youth clubs and activities, inspiring the next generation of community champions. Pictures from the event capture the lively and joyful atmosphere, with volunteers coming together to celebrate their achievements. The evening was made even more special with live music provided by a local band.

The evening was filled with gratitude, networking, and celebration, highlighting the positive impact volunteers have across the Cowdenbeath area.
