Plans have been submitted for 51,000sq ft of new business space at Glenfield Industrial Estate in Cowdenbeath.
CRT Property Investments Ltd, linked to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, intend to build then lease the units for local businesses who need space for expansion or distribution.
Three large buildings are planned, using empty land opposite the Glenfield Autocentre, with the units being subdivided depending on tenant requirements.

Documents supporting the planning application indicate there is a ‘moderate to high risk from unrecorded shallow mineworkings at the northern end of the development’. As such the Coal Authority has required the developer to conduct extensive bore testing before construction could commence.
The industrial estate is already a busy location, with a significant portion used by the Graham’s Dairy factory. Local residents have raised issues in the past about noise and traffic being a nuisance in the area.
There will be around 95 new parking spaces provided across the development site if approved, according to a transport assessment submitted as part of the application.
The extension to the industrial estate could bring additional business and jobs to the area, as well as providing a source of income for the Coalfields Regeneration charity, who deliver community development work across former coal mining communities in the UK.
The local community has until 4th December to comment on the application, which can be accessed on the Fife Council Planning Portal here.
