The newly refurbished play area within Cullaloe View in Cowdenbeath is now complete and open.
Fife Council announced the completion of the £115,000 play area this week, which is a safe environment for children of all ages and abilities and features state of the art equipment including a toddler unit, springer bowl, rocket roller, junior unit and tipi carousel to name a few.
This new play area has replaced outdated equipment and breathed new life into the community.
Local residents have already highlighted difficulties accessing the new playpark with wheelchairs and buggies though, as the Council have chosen not to install a path from the roadside over the muddy grass area. Development group, My Cowdenbeath have written to the local authority asking for remedial works to ensure the new facility is accessible for all.
Councillor Linda Erskine, Spokesperson for Communities, said: “I’m incredibly proud to see this new play area open, which has been made possible through the council’s investment in our community.
“As a council we’re committed to providing good play value for children of different ages and needs, and to make sure that our public parks and the Kingdom’s greenspace continues to provide financially sustainable and varied opportunities for outdoor play.
“Our commitment to inclusivity shines in this thoughtfully designed space, featuring accessible play equipment, sensory friendly elements, and a welcoming environment for children of diverse abilities.
“We believe it will be a cherished destination for families seeking a fun day out for many years to come.”
The new play area was funded by Fife Council from money received from the Scottish Government’s Play Park Renewal Fund.
