Cowdenbeath banking customers will soon be able to access temporary facilities as the town’s last remaining bank closes this summer.
A temporary banking hub operated by the Post Office will open within the 99 Market Place store in the High Street, while permanent facilities are developed nearby. The hub will bring cash and everyday banking services to Cowdenbeath as we lose our last permanent branch with the closure of Bank of Scotland.

An information drop-in event has been organised by Cash Access UK for locals to hear more about the banking hub plans for the town, being held at the Maxwell Centre on Monday 2nd June between 11.30am and 2pm.
Banking Hubs bring together several High Street banks to share facilities and operate in one venue, with all the usual services you’d expect in a branch.
Recently, planning permission was granted for the development of a permanent hub at the former TSB branch opposite Wee Jimmies bar, which has been empty for several years.

The hub will be owned by Cash Access UK and operated by Post Office, with face-to-face cash and banking in the heart of the town centre.
You’ll be able to use the banking hub to:
- pay in cash (notes & coins) and cheques
- withdraw cash (notes & coins)
- check your balance
- pay utility bills
- top up gas and electricity
- access coin change-giving services (for registered businesses)
You can also talk to a community banker from your bank on the day your bank operates from the hub.
Around 30 banking hubs are open in Scotland, including in Burntisland, with many more planned. The move is designed to reverse the loss of access to High St banking, with TSB, Bank of Scotland, RBS and others closing hundreds of branches over the past two decades.

Make sure you drop in and hear more about the banking hub plans for Cowdenbeath on Monday 2nd June or follow Cash Access UK on Facebook for all the latest updates on the opening dates.
